*****

John 15:13 No one shows greater love than when he lays down his life for his friends. (ISV)

I am madly in love with Jesus like never before. If you spent a large part of your life searching for love in all the wrong places, through all the wrong means and in all the wrong people, until you found out that it is only Jesus that could fill that void; you'd understand what I mean. I remember times in my life when I was literally down and out; I had nothing going for me. I failed out of physical therapy school, my longtime relationship crashed, I had no job, the people that I called friends disappeared, I barely had enough money to eat and pay my bills; but GOD!

He was always there, cheering me on and comforting me. He reminded me of his love for me constantly. Even when I tried to fight it, he didn't let me go. Even when I tried to ignore him, he drew me closer. It was when I finally let my guards down and allowed him to be him and love me that I found a reason to keep living. It was in my time of surrender, that I discovered him and in turn discovered me. It was in this time that I discovered my purpose and it all made sense; there were some things that I had to grow through in order to fulfill destiny. There were also some things that I didn't have to subject myself to; but the good news is that he caused all things to work out for my good.

JESUS IS MY FIRST LOVE!

*If you have no idea what I am referring to, you're missing out! Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart; all you have to do is let him in [Click here].

If you have experience his love, why don't you just take some time to thank him for his love today!

Thanks for reading! God bless you!

With lots of love,

Honeymoon Ends and The Journey Begins

Source: Google

So our honeymoon was short lived. We originally wanted to honeymoon in Dubai but we had to take a rain check; my husband had to start work about a week after our wedding and we never really went ahead to make definite plans.

We left our hotel early the next morning because we were so hungry!!! And we didn't want to pay for another night. We later found out that complimentary breakfast was available for us at the Sheraton...if we only knew!

One of our church members brought us our car and we headed to the nearest fast food restaurant. We ate like it was our last supper; the food was delicious. Next on our to do list was to find another hotel. The first one that we went to didn't have any rooms available; my husband was starting to get stressed. Surprisingly I was calm; it probably was because of the yummy food that I consumed earlier, I was on cloud nine

As we were about to drive off, our pastor called to check on us. He could tell that my husband was flustered so he asked what was going on. After explaining the situation to him, he directed us to another hotel. He said that the facilities weren't the best but the food was good; I was sold! Talk about perfect timing! I thank God for our pastor, he always seems to come through when we need him; even when we need a hotel in the middle of our "honeymoon" :-).

So off we went, and after about 30 minutes we arrived! The hotel was definitely a far cry from the Sheraton but we made the best of it. And the food made up for what was lacking in the facility; to top it off the price was right! We stayed at the hotel for a couple of days, we mostly relaxed and went out once in a while. It was good but too short! :-(.

We had to head back to Akure and start our new life together. My husband had to head to his new place of work to fill out some paperwork. Afterward, we drove to our new home. It was my first time seeing it and I was glad; my husband was in charge of selecting our house and he did a great job! Yay!

After settling in a bit, we went to visit my husband's parents. We ate, chatted and left with gifts. They gave us a few pieces of furniture, which was much needed. When we arrived at home, we realized that our flat (apartment) was not connected to the electric supply. We called the landlord and she apologized, she told us to pay for someone to fix it and she would refund the money when she came to town a few weeks later. Well there were a few others things that weren't fixed and we had to pay to sort it all out; and our beloved landlord never refunded our money. If we only knew that she was showing her true colors, we wouldn't have been surprised when she did worse things; she wasn't too nice to say the least. From my experience with her, I made up my mind that I wanted to own my own home much sooner than later.

*****
Since we were back in town, we had to church the following Sunday. Our attention was also needed asap, an issue came up while we were away. So here we were back to work. Some people were surprised to see us back so soon, but hey! We had to do what we had to do!
I felt so uncomfortable on our first Sunday back; in the back of my mind, I was thinking that everyone was looking at me funny because I had "done the deed", lol! Don't mind me, I have no idea why I was thinking like that. I hadn't completely embraced my new "status"as a a pastor's wife I had to get used to the attention, sitting in the front beside my husband, and higher expectations of me. It was a lot for me to process at the time. You would of thought that I would have been prepared, but marriage was a big deal; and coupled with pastoring duties, it was an even bigger deal!

The next couple of weeks were interesting. We were adjusting and learning how to live together as husband and wife. Most of all, we were learning how to live strictly by faith. We didn't have much financially and materially, but we had each other and we had a Great God that continuously reminded us that he was our source and sustainer. And at the end of the day, having each other and God was all that mattered!

You are blessed!

Love = Service

Galatians 5:13King James Version (KJV)13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Over the past few weeks, the Lord has been taking me on a journey. I'd like to call it a love walk, he's been holding my hand and revealing some aspects of love that I've never considered. I've discovered that many of us really do not know what love is. The world has sold us a lie, as the years roll by I see that the devil has watered down love and made it immoral, diluted, adulterated and self-centered. I'm enjoying this discovery of love...I'll share as much as I can as time goes on.

****

When we truly love others, it will be expressed in our level of service towards them. Love...that is true love, is expressed in service. When you hear the word "service", what comes to mind?
Service is defined as: "the action of helping or doing work for someone" (source).

When we love someone, we look for ways to make them happy...we look for ways to meet their needs. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as an act of love, this was an example that he expected them to follow once he left the scene (John 13:1-15).

Love is not selfish, it is self-giving
Love puts others before himself
Love goes out of his way to be a blessing
Love never gets tired of helping others

The greatest way to love someone is to serve him/her. There are people in your life that need you to serve them in order for them to make progress in their own lives. You have a calling and you were given gifts and talents not for your own good but for the good of others (1 Peter 4:10). If you don't step up to the plate, many people will be stuck on the sidelines.

Service shouldn't be seen as a daunting task, it is a privilege, it's an honor. If you take time to think about it, you'll discover that you have made it this far because someone believed in you...someone encouraged you...someone prayed for you...someone supported you. No one is self made, no one is an island...it takes a village to become a success.

An act of service could simply be an encouraging word, or assisting someone with s project or sharing your personal testimony so that someone can overcome the same or similar challenge.

If the Lord Jesus could stoop low to wash the feet of his disciples, what is your excuse? People are waiting for you! Be of service to someone today. Look around for the needs around you and meet them!

Confession: The love of God has been shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit, I give expression to that love as I serve others. Amen

Prayer starter: In Jesus' name, I receive the grace to put others before myself by aiming to meet their needs. Amen

You're blessed!

The Secret Place

Psalm 91King James Version (KJV)He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty

Our father has a secret place, it is reserved for his beloved ones. A place void of fear, hurt, pain, lack, disappointment, etc. It's a shelter..a safe place...a haven, it protects us from everything that is not of him. It is a place of comfort, a place of authority, a place of honor, a place of deep, passionate and intimate fellowship with the father.

You may be wondering where this place is. It has no physical address, there is no physical location for this place.

The secret place of our father is at the center of his love, This secret place is his LOVE. We are protected from fear as dwell in his love (1 John 4:18), in the secret place of God's love we have victory (Romans 8:37-39), in this place we have access to eternal life (Ephesians 2:4-5; 1 John 4:9-11), in this place there is safety (Zephaniah 3:17), in this beautiful secret place we can proudly and boldly declare that we are true sons of God (1 John 3:1).

This place is available to every believer, it is your decision to either pitch a tent there or go in and out of it. However the key to truly enjoying the benefits of this secret place is to dwell and abide there. To dwell means be settle, reside, lodge, stay or be housed. Abide means to obey, follow, adhere to, stand by, uphold, or to conform to. It is God's Will that we settled down and live in his love. It should be the only place that we desire to stay, our resting place. Anything outside of God's love is not safe, it will harm you.

John 15:9-10King James Version (KJV)As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love
The key to abiding in this secret place is to walk in love: Love God absolutely (Matthew 22:37) and love others wholeheartedly (John 13:34-35).

Choose to dwell and abide in God's love today, in this secret place you are untouchable!

Confession: In the name of the Lord Jesus, I dwell and abide in the secret place of the most high and dwell in the shadow of his love as I love God and others unconditionally. Amen

Prayer starter: Heavenly, I pray for the wisdom and grace to love you and others in Jesus' name. Amen

You're blessed!

The Key to God's Heart

John 13:34-35 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

Do you want to hold the key to God's heart? Do you want to please him at all times? Do you want him to be pleased with you? Of course you do! Well, I have good news for you! It is pretty simple. The key to God's heart is LOVE!!! Love him absolutely + love others = God is happy!!!

When Jesus showed up on Earth, he gave us a new commandment, "...Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other." Naturally speaking, loving others as God loves us may seem overwhelmingly impossible. God's love for us is immeasurable and endless, he loved us enough to give up his most prized possession (John 3:16), he gave us his all.

Loving others is a sacrifice, at times it can even be a risk. A risk because you may not get love in return. However, when we love others we shouldn't focus on what we will get in return; this is the way to avoid being disappointed and hurt. We love because it is a commandment and not a suggestion. We love because it is the system of the kingdom of God. We love because it is our life line as members of the body of Christ. We love because God loved us first (1 John 4:19).

I know that some people reading this may be thinking to themselves, "I've tried it over and over again, but he/she can't be loved." Something worthy of note is that not everyone can receive love, some people need to be loved from a distance (it may just be for a season). Philippians 1:9 reads, And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment (KJV). The Holman Christian Standard Bible version says it like this, And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment. We need to learn how to love wisely (be discerning) while being genuine at the same time. This can only be done in the strength of the Holy Spirit, trying to do it in your own strength will burn you out. Jesus loved Judas, even though he knew that he would betray him...so what's your excuse?

God will never command us to do something without empowering us to do so. The very type of love that God has, has been given to us. It has been placed in our hearts (Romans 5:5), it finds expression through us as we partner with the Holy Spirit. We can not love others as God has commanded us based on our feelings, feelings are flaky and they are conditional. The God kind of love is unconditional, it is agape!

Aim to please God, jump into the flow of giving love at all times. Don't focus on the person, focus on your father. Receive strength from within. Love is the only way to thrive in the kingdom of God, keep it up at never give up (1 Corinthians 13:1-7). Remain in God's love and obey his commandment (John 15:10), it is not a punishment it is the answer to all of the world's problems. Everyone needs love, give it freely and your father in heaven will reward
you.

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Thanks for reading! Shalom!

Confession: In the name of the Lord Jesus, I declare that I walk in love at all times and with everyone. I declare that love is my motivation for all that I do. I declare that love is my passion, it is my drive. Amen.

Prayer Starter: Father, I thank you for placing your love in my heart. I asked that you will strengthen me by your spirit to give love at all times. In Jesus' name, Amen.

You're blessed!

Control Your Tongue with LOVE

1 Corinthians 9:25 King James Version (KJV)

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

The key to prospering in every area of your life is learning how to control one's self, bascially having self control or practicing temperance. Temperance is knowing the right thing to do at the right time and in the right way. Temperance is doing what is right, not doing what you feel like.

Temperance begins with learning how to control our words (James 3:1-12). If we can be careful with our words, then we can control our entire being. Actions are the result of thoughts and thoughts are the result of words spoken.

We must carefully select words that are full of grace, they will edify (Col. 4:6; Eph. 4:29). A Word that is void of grace, is a word that kills. If you aim to speak gracefully, you'll always have the right answers for everyone...I'm sure that you always want to be right, don't you?

Learn to pause and think before speaking. Never speak out of anger. Never communicate your emotions, communicate your intentions. Don't attack the person, attack the issue. What you feel isn't necessarimisunderstanding isn't necessarily true.

If we see people as they are, created in the image and after the likeness of God it'll be easier to forgive and love them. Anyone can make a mistake because we are all a work in progress. Practice forgiving before offenses arise, that's the easiest way to not take offense. Remember, God did not suggest that we love others he commanded it. As a good solider of Christ Jesus, take it as your marching orders.

Make it a part of your daily agenda to love God and others more thanly the truth. Feeling like a cow doesn't make you a cow, just as much as feeling like your spouse doesn't love you because of a  the day before (Phill. 1:9). Start with the ones that close to you first, at times is easier to see the weaknesses and the flaws of the ones you love more versus the God in them. Everyone wants to love and be loved. Everyone responds to love, even the hardest heart will melt at the sight of pure love.

Confession: In the name of Jesus, I declare that I am temperate with my words. I speak words of grace that are well thought out, so that I edify everyone that I converse with. Amen.

Prayer starter: Heavenly Father, I asked for the grace to tame my tongue and live a life of temperance so that I can love others with my words and actions. In Jesus' name, Amen.

You're blessed!

Give Love, Give Life

1 John 4:8-16King James Version (KJV)

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Love is the substance of life, we are all here on Earth as the result of an act of love. Love created man (human beings), no other being could have phantomed every intrinsic detail of man. From every cell, tissue, and organ to each strand of hair on man's head down to each toe nail; each fiber of man's being is laced with love.

I caught the glimpse of this after giving birth to my daughter a few months ago. I remember the first ultrasound that I had while 6 weeks pregnant, all I saw was a glimpse of her limbs attached to her tiny body. I marveled as she began to develop and form in my womb without affecting any other part of my body. I was amazed at how my body automatically adjusted to accommodate my growing baby. And on the day of her birth, I was taken aback! She was indeed fearfully and wonderfully made. Every inch of her was perfect. I couldn't have done this alone, even in my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined this great gift.

Man is indeed love's idea, he's love's greatest creation (Genesis 1:26-28). Even when man gave up his power to the enemy, Love didn't give up on him. Love produced a better and more superior life than before (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Love is the very essence life, love always gives, love is God's gift to the world. A life without love is a life not worth living. We minister life to others by showcasing the love of God to them (1 John 3:14). Love is always the truth, love is always the way, because love is life (John 14:6).

When love gave his greatest gift for mankind, he requested one thing from us. He gave us his all and he expects us to reciprocate what we've received. Jesus asked us to love God and others (Matthew 22:36-40), the good news is that we don't have to do it in our own strength. Love dwells in us, it's been disperse in our hearts (Romans 5:5). All you have to do is turn on the switch and aim to always choose love. Even when someone pisses you off or when someone hurts you...when someone disrespects you...when someone takes advantage of you...when someone cuts you off while driving...when someone rips you off...choose LOVE. Don't get me wrong you have a right to be upset or feel sad, your feelings are not wrong. It's how you deal with them that determines whether they're right or wrong.

You can never go wrong with love. Even the hardest heart can be soften with love. Make the world a better place, walk in love towards all men and give life.

Confession: Father I thank you for the your love that you've placed in my heart, I choose to give it to all people, therefore showcasing your life. I live above my feelings and decide to always choose love in every situation in Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayer starter: Father I come to you today asking for the wisdom and grace to love people that seem difficult and to truly forgive those that have hurt me. Today I release ---name person--- today and choose to love him and her instead. In Jesus' name. Amen

Real L-O-V-E

"Real love, I'm searching for a real love...someone to set my heart free...real love...I'm searching for a real love."

Some of you may be familiar with the song above, which was released in 1992 by Mary J. Blige. I personally used to sing this song passionately. It's funny now, because I had NO idea what LOVE was back then!

Real L-O-V-E is true

Real L-O-V-E is pure

Real L-O-V-E is unconditional

Real L-O-V-E is amazing...it's intoxicating...its exciting...it's exhilarating

Real L-O-V-E gives life a whole new meaning, it occupies your mind, and it is the center of your thoughts, the object of your day dreams

Real L-O-V-E gives you butterflies in your tummy and goose bumps all over, it takes your breath away... it is the reason behind your smile and secret giggles

I'm talking about REAL LOVE, not that lust stuff that fizzles away with time, emotions, circumstances and hormones.

Many have claimed to find it at one point or another...only for it to disappear into thin air...many are still searching for it...looking in the wrong places, going down the wrong paths, and knocking on the wrong doors.

Many ask this question time and time again, "Does real love exist?"

I've come to answer that question. YES it does!!!!

Real L-O-VE cannot be based on how you feel, because your feelings are fleeting.

Real L-O-V-E is a decision. A life defying decision that is sustained by believing in it at all times and in all ways.

Real L-O-V-E is a person. A divine person who's very essence is LOVE. All he has done or ever will do is based on this nature of LOVE.

Real L-O-V-E sees your imperfections and rejoices because he chooses to focus on your glorious. He knows the end from the beginning; and with him by your side, that end is BRIGHT!

Real L-O-V-E cheers you on throughout the process, never looking down on you; guiding you every step of the way.

God is REAL LOVE (1 John 4:8)

We are the object of his affection; he is willing to do any and everything for us. That's why he sent his son to save us (John 3:16), his very beloved, his most prized procession.

His desire for us is oneness with him (John 17:26). Making us inseparable and indistinguishable from him. Being on top of the world, ruling and reigning as he does in heaven. He gave us the Earth to subdue and have dominion, not to struggle or suffer (John 10:10).

That's pure, undiluted, unadulterated love! Love without reservations!

It may be difficult to believe this reality because in the world, love is not common. Love has been redefined, bastardized, sugarcoated, and stripped of its true worth.

I'm here to tell you today, that LOVE is real, it's free, and it’s already been given to you. Just believe in it and receive it.

It's okay to let your guards down and trust the one that created you. He's got your back, front, and each side of you covered. He wants you to have it all, in fact much more than you can imagine; your definition of "having it all" is nothing compared to what he's prepared for you.

People may have hurt you or taken advantage of your love. Because of that, you may have built up walls. In reality those walls aren't protecting you, they're blocking you from experiencing the greatest LOVE that has, is, and ever will be (John 15:13).

Believe in the LOVE of God today. Shout it out loud "GOD LOVES ME!!!!" (Keep saying it until you truly believe it)

Confession: Father I thank you for loving me with an everlasting love. I choose to seize from all my struggles and believe in your love today. Amen
