The Power of the Spoken WORD

I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.  

Mark 11:23 NLT

Have you ever struggled with reading the bible? Maybe you begin to read and you get bored easily or you suddenly feel sleepy. I've been there, there was a point in my life when the bible did not make any sense to me; it was comparable to an old history book in my opinion. I didn't see what other people claimed to see and I couldn't understand how people got the Word of God to “work for them”. I concluded that I had no control over what occurred in my life and I just had to go with the flow; accepting everything that life threw my way.

This way of thinking was my permanent abode until life happened and I was left alone, confused and scared. In that moment, I ran to God and sought after him like never before. I would ask God to reveal himself to me; I wanted to know him for myself. There was 'something' within me telling me that there was more to life and I didn't have to settle. As I followed God's leading, the bible became alive to me. I saw Jesus in it, in turn I saw myself. I saw who I was created to be and what God had prepared for me. I was glued to the Word, from listening to sermons, to attending church services and programs severally times a week to setting out time to study the bible; I became an addict!

The Word of God is not effective if it is just in your head; it becomes effective once it enters into your heart. Merely skimming through pages in the bible, reading a verse here and there would leave you with information in your head. Meditation on God's Word is the way to get it into your heart. Meditation involves reading scriptures, in depth study of scriptures and confession of scriptures (speaking the Word out loud to yourself); this process continues until the Word sinks in, bypassing your mind and going into your spirit and igniting Faith in you (Joshua 1:8).

The quickest way to get anything into your heart is by speaking it. We must understand that our words contain power. Our inherit power is released through our words. The type of power that you release depends on the words that you choose to speak; you either releasing miracle working power or destructive power (Proverbs 18:21). You must speak the Word in faith to make it work for you.

Faith in God and his Word is the key to living the life that Jesus died to give. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by the hearing of the Word. You must hear the Word of God in order to believe and receive it. You hear the Word of God when you speak it back to yourself via meditation and when you listen to a sermon being taught or preached by an anointed minister of God.

Colossians 3:16, tells us to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly. When this scripture speaks about the 'word of Christ', it is referring to the Greek word 'logos' which is defined as the spoken word of God. God's Word is the container of his power (Hebrews 1:3); in order to release the power of God into any area of your life, you need to speak it. It is the Word that you decree that becomes established (Job 22:28); not the word you merely 'think' upon. 

When you decree the Word of God, you are defining the portion of your inheritance in him; you are selecting the boundaries for what you will or will not allow in your life (Matthew 18:18). 

You must get to the point where the Word of God overwhelms and overtakes you then begins to ooze out of you. This is a place where you only hear, see, speak and do what the Word of God says; there is no other option and there is no backup plan. The Word is God's gift to you; it is your access into all that God has prepared for us.  As you speak this Word to yourself, using it to address situations and circumstances; you unleash the power of God to make it good. So speak the Word over every area of your life today and awaiting the performance of that very Word!

Victory Over Storms

The past few weeks have been eye opening for me as I went through and survived Hurricane Harvey...I am pretty sure that you're aware of this natural disaster and how it has affected Houston and other parts of Texas; it was an experience to say the least. I got wind of the impending storm a few days prior; my husband saw the forecast on the news and informed me about it. I didn't think much of it initially.

However, when my husband came home on the Thursday before the storm was scheduled to hit, I re-thought my initial response to the news. He told me that he was listening to the radio and it was advised that we filled the car with gas and have enough water and food at home, because the storm was scheduled to start the following day. So he went out to do just that; something that would normally take him a few minutes, took him a couple of hours.

After receiving a couple of calls from friends about long lines at supermarkets and most things being sold out, I decided to do some research. I saw that the hurricane was fore casted to be the worse in over ten years. It began to rain on Thursday night, but it wasn't major. The rain continued on and off throughout Friday, this time accompanied with loud thunder and bolts of lightening. Then around midnight, the rain began to come down harder and it was nonstop; it was clear that it was indeed a storm.

My husband attempted to go to work on Friday evening on two separate occasions but the rain was so heavy, he could barely see while driving. After a few hours, he was eventually able to drive when the rain stopped briefly.

Shortly after he arrived at work, the rain picked up again and it was heavier. I looked in our backyard and noticed that the empty land behind our house was beginning to fill up with water. As the hours passed, the rain continued. By Saturday evening, not only had the rainfall increased but the wind was out of control. On the news, we saw that people's homes were flooding, some people had to evacuate to shelters, roads and major highway were flooding, etc. It became real!

We had to hold church service via Skype the next day because many of the major roads were flooded. That same Sunday, the streets in our neighborhood began to flood and our neighbors began to panic. My husband and I prayed for our neighborhood, church members and friends in Houston. I stayed up for most of the night praying as I monitored the water levels in front and behind our home. Naturally speaking, it was scary. Our house was pretty much an island; the water levels were rising in the front and behind our house at an alarming rate. We informed our pastors and loved ones, prayer mode was activated! Calls and messages started rolling in as the news of the storm and images of the devastation spread across the news, Internet, etc.

The beauty of it all is that God kept speaking to us in the midst of the storm. He told my husband, "I give you safety in your neighborhood". I remember looking out the window one day and thinking to myself, "We should have gotten flood insurance"; then I heard God say, "I am your insurance." He also instructed me to praise him continually (praise is a weapon, it is a defense; it is the key to victory). So when thoughts of fear threatened to overwhelm me as the waters rose and threaten to wreck havoc on our property; as I read about people loosing their lives; as our electricity flickered on and off at various intervals; as our food supplies dwindled and the rain fell harder; I kept praying and confessing the Word, I kept reciting Psalm 91, I kept saying "there shall be no loss"..." the angel of the Lord encamps around me"... "The Lord blesses without adding sorrow, he gave us this house and we will not sorrow over it, etc.

In these moments, all that was seemly 'wrong' in my life didn't matter. My husband suddenly wasn't so "annoying"; we no longer had reasons to disagree. The amount of money in my bank account no longer mattered. Waking up in the middle of the night to feed my baby no long felt stressful. Being able to speak to family members on the phone was now something to look forward to. You see all that mattered was that I was alive and well! Everyday became a special gift, I woke up excited to see another day! I was overwhelmed with God's love.

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. Ecclesiastes 9:4 KJV

I work as a Crisis Counselor in a disaster relief program with my organization. Everyday at work, I meet people who have lost so much. I meet people who are now rendered homeless; people who have to camp out in front of their houses because their homes were not safe to live in; people who lost their jobs because they couldn't get to work during and after the storm or their company shut down because it was affected by the flood; people who haven't had a decent meal in weeks; people who are emotional distraught and finding it difficult to move forward; how about the woman whose husband left the comfort of their home to rescue others and lost his life in the process, now she is left with their children trying to adjust to their new reality.

As I hear their stories, I sympathize with them and do all that I can within my capacity to help them. After they've poured their hearts out, some times with tears flowing from their eyes, I always aim to help them see the bright side (one being that their alive) and make them smile; ensuring them that there is hope and restoration after each storm. Meeting these people reassures me that it was our faith in God that kept us safe during the storm, I don't take it for granted. God is good! Taste and see! All that he requires of you is your faith in him!

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 KJV

In life, there will always be storms. There will always challenges staring you in the face; there will trails; you will be hurt, you feel pain; you will disappointed. But there is good news; you don't have to accept it, you don't have to stay down, it doesn't have to redefine you, you don't have to succumb to it. Most of all, you don't have to go through it alone because God is all with you, cheering you on. His still small voice is always whispering the truth to you, reminding you that you are more than a conqueror.

From my experience during and after the hurricane, I learnt that the best way to get through any storm is to:

1. Trust God

2. Hold on to God's Word (Keep it before your eyes, in your heart, on your mind & on your lips)

3. Pray (prayer will give you strength to get through it)

4. Praise God (not for the storm, but for the victory over it)

5. Don't allow fear! (Fear will rob you of your peace- it is possible to have peace in the midst of storm)

6. Don't blame God (God is not the author of destruction, death, pain, lost, etc....the devil is (John 10:10))

7. Grow through it, don't just go through (let the experience leave you better, stronger, wiser, and more  grateful to God)

8. Your perspective is important, it will determine whether you will float or sink in the midst of storms. What you focus on is key, you can choose to focus on the storm or on God. Whatever you focus on becomes bigger, it becomes more real to you.

- During the hurricane my daughter would go to the window intermittently and get excited. She would say, "Mommy, there is a pool behind our house, can we go swimming?" I had to inform her that it was not a pool so she didn't get any ideas. On one of those occasions, this scripture came to my heart:

 "When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.  I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” Mark 10:14‭-‬15 NLT

In order to continuously walk in victory, we have to see God as our father and trust in his love absolutely. We have to be like children, having absolutely no cares because we know that Daddy has our back; he has our lives in his hands!!

In conclusion, you don't have to become a victim of storms, victory is always yours in Jesus; it is your choice to take it or leave it.

Know God and Truly Live

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

John 17:3 KJV

Our main goal as believers should be to spend our lives discovering who God truly is. This is the key to enjoying eternal life; discovering the multi-facetedness of God and discovering the endless benefits of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.  

In him all things exists; all that we want and need is in him. It is in him that we truly live; it is in him that will discover purpose and find significance. The essence of our existence is in him. Without him we are as good as dead. Our lives thrive solely in him (Acts 17:28).

Too many people waste their lives chasing things; instead of chasing the giver of all things. And these people spend the bulk of their time trying to make ends meet; however like my father in the Lord fondly says, "ends already met on the cross." It is when we have a revelation of what actually took place on the cross, that we come to the realization that when Jesus uttered the words"it is done", it was more than a statement.

What took place on the cross was a divine transaction. God ensured that every area of our lives was fully taken care of through the sacrifice of Jesus. It is an awareness and assurance of this that gives us life. The way to truly enjoy life is by discovering this truth. If not, one is subjected to a life of struggle, sorrow and emptiness. However there is a better way, all it is going to cost you is time. Time spent with God is never a waste; it is an investment. A sure investment with a guaranteed reward (Hebrews 11:6).

God wants a relationship; a healthy thriving one. Every healthy relationship requires consistent and effective communication. And that is what God desires from you. There's secrets that he wants to tell you. There are things that he has prepared for you before the foundations of the world. However you can't see them nor walk in them until you rest and learn to be still; until you learn to rest at his feet.

God didn't create us to live a life filled with ups and downs. He designed us to enjoy life on a progressive scale; each day being sweeter than the day before (Proverbs 4:18). Success is inevitable when your focus is on the source. The source of success is the revelation of Jesus (Joshua 1:8). Everyone wants to be successful, however many fail to recognize the true source of success. Look unto Jesus, believe in him, trust in, walk in him, rest in him and live in him!

Shadows

Today as I drove to work and prayed in tongues at the same time, I caught a glimpse of my car's shadow on the ground. I've seen it several times before, therefore I was tempted to ignore it. But the holy spirit called my attention to some things.

I decided to look at the shadow once again and I noticed a few things. The first thing that I noticed was that the shadow of my car displayed a distorted image of my car. The shadow portrayed a car that was shaped completely different from the actual car. In the shadow, the roof of my car was elongated.

The second thing that I noticed within the shadow was that my car appeared to be crossing into the left lane, even though I was in the middle lane. After staring at the shadow for a few seconds, I started to actually believe that my car was crossing over into the left lane; until I looked up and saw that I was in the perfect (right) position in the middle lane.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 KJV

The Lord began to speak to my heart. He said "this is what happens to people who focus their attention on the shadows of the devil. They choose to focus their attention on circumstances and situations and/ or trials and tribulations. When this occurs, the devil magnifies these things and the appear bigger than they really are. The devil distorts circumstances and if you look at that distorted image long enough, you'll begin to believe that it is true."

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4 KJV

He went on to say, "I am in you and I am greater than anything that tries to come against you. When you focus on me and my Word, you will know the truth and you will be set free. When you look unto Jesus, your faith when be strengthened. Looking to shadows or the lies of the enemy will instill fear in you."

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord , He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Psalms 91:1‭-‬2 KJV

I decided to search a few scriptures where the word shadow was mentioned and I saw 'shadow' defined as the word 'Tsale' in Hebrew, which is translated as shade or defence in English. It is the shadow of the Lord that offers shade or defence. The shadow of the devil offers lies- False Evidence Appearing Real (FEAR).

Stop looking at those false shadows, they are not real!!! The shadow of God provides shade, shelter, comfort and defence. When you focus on God and hold on to his Word, you will have peace and rest, irrespective of the circumstances that surround you. The shadow of God is his glory. The glory of God is a covering (protection) and defence. 

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV

We reinforce our position within the glory of God by focusing our attention on God and his Word. Make the Word of God your reality. Believe it, receive it, and confess it! All the devil can give you is a ton of lies, however God can never lie. It is absolutely impossible for God to lie. God will always do his part, you have to do your part by believing and acting on what you've believed. Your actions will always be in line with what you believe.

Watch the shadows that you pay attention to. Choose to focus on God and you'll see clearly. You will know the truth and you will live a glorious life!

Protect your Heart

Your heart is the center of your being.
It is your powerhouse.
It should be handled with care.
The strength of it is determined by what you expose it to.

My son, pay attention to my words and be willing to learn; Open your ears to my sayings. Do not let them escape from your sight; Keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, And healing and health to all their flesh. Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.
Proverbs 4:20-23 AMP

The above scripture tells us to keep God's Word at the center of our hearts. It farther says these Words are life, healing and health to one's flesh.

What you allow into your heart will affect your entire being. What you give attention to on a consistent basis enters your heart. If you give your attention to negative situations, circumstances, things or people, negativity will enter your heart. And negativity will hurt you and zap life out of you.

It is only the Word of God that gives life. It is highly important to watch one's thoughts. Be careful of the thoughts that you allow to enter your heart.

Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
Philippians 4:8 AMP

Here is a checklist:

• Is it true?
• Is it honorable?
• Is it worthy of respect?
• Is it right?
• Is it confirmed by God's word?
• Is it pure?
• Is it wholesome?
• Is it lovely?
• Is it peaceful?
• Is it admirable?
• Is it of good repute?
• Is it excellent?
• Is it worthy of praise?

If the thought is outside of this context, than it is FALSE. Reject It! Your reality is what God says to you; either through his Word or through revelation. If you see something contrary to what the Word says around you, laugh it off! It is temporary, it is subject to change.

It is your responsibility to watch over your heart. You have the power to control what can and cannot enter into your heart. You have power over your feelings and emotions. There is saying that goes, “You are what you eat", so what are you eating? Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts (Jeremiah 15:16 KJV).What are you giving your attention to? What are you feeding on? The Word (the truth) or Lies?

The truth sets free (John 8:32), while lies imprison. Lies evoke fear (false evidence appearing real). Fear leads to torment (1 John 4:18) and clouds one's judgment.

Protect your heart from lies, live free of fear. Protect your heart with the greatest security system- the Word. Do all it takes to keep the Word in your heart. The Word gives peace, it gives liberty, and it gives rest.

Confession: In the name of Jesus, I give attention to the Word of God; I feed on the Word of God daily. I protect my heart by keeping the Word at its center. I refuse to allow negative thoughts, feelings, situations and people to get into my heart. I choose to focus on the Word of God. Amen

Prayer starter: Heavenly father, I come to you today and I pray for a strong desire for your Word. I pray for the wisdom and strength to protect my heart from anything that is not of you. In Jesus' name, Amen!

See The Invisible

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18 KJV)

The bible tells us to live by faith, and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Living by faith is living according to what the Word of God says and by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Living by sight is living according to your feelings (your five physical senses) and allowing circumstances and situations to control you. We need to learn how to live from the higher realm, where things are enforced. The spiritual realm controls the natural realm. What we see is subject to change, we can control what we want to see by faith. 

For example, you may be feeling really sick and a doctor might even give you a terrible diagnosis. But you don't have to be sick, it is not God's Will for you. Isaiah 53:4-5 says, 4 Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains -- he hath carried them, And we -- we have esteemed him plagued, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 And he is pierced for our transgressions, Bruised for our iniquities, The chastisement of our peace [is] on him, And by his bruise there is healing to us. Jesus took our sicknesses and carried our pains, we don't have to take sickness or pain! Many people are quick a pill to relieve their symptoms and pain. However, God has given us something that can erradict it forever. It is the Word of God! Believe it, recieve it, confess it and act on it!

So don't bother looking at what can be seen, don't waste one minute considering it! There's no point, it's all temporary! Instead look at what can not be seen with the physical eyes, that's the real deal. It's a reality that oozes from the core of your being as a believer, it is an unshakable and undeniable truth. Once you catch a revelation, walk with it and in it. That's how the new man in Christ was designed to live, by Faith not by what you can see, touch, feel, smell and taste. There's a sixth sense called faith and it has the power to override and influence the five physical senses.

Faith comes by the hearing of God's Word (Romans 10:17). As you study God's Word, deep things which are needed for success and prosperity are revealed (Daniel 2:22; 1 Corinthians 2:10). What is revealed belongs to us, it's our property, our gateway to abundant prosperity (Deu. 29:29). So stop looking at displeasing circumstances and situations, don't let them control you. Instead control your life experiences by revelation, be your own prophet. Declare what is revealed to you by God over your life and you will be established (Job 22:28).

Confession: In the name of the Lord Jesus, I declare that I live by faith. I declare that I am not controlled by my emotions or my feelings. I take control of my life with the Word of God as my tool. Amen 

Prayer starter: Heavenly father, I ask for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you. And that the eyes of my understanding are enlightened. So that I will know the hope of your calling and live in a way that always honors and pleases you. Amen

The Life Giver

Romans 8:2 For the power of the life-giving Spirit—and this power is mine through Christ Jesus—has freed me from the vicious circle of sin and death (TLB).

If you are born again (a true Christian), you have the spirit of God living in you. The above scripture calls God's spirit the life-giving Spirit. This is the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead; through this same spirit that same resurrection power dwells in us. Therefore death has no power over us. This life giving Spirit quickens our bodies (Romans 8:11), it is our divine life line. Scripture speaks about two Adams; the first Adam in the Garden of Eden who sinned and died, and the second Adam (Jesus Christ) who came to save us from sin and was resurrected from death. There was a significant difference between both Adams the first was a mere human being made from dust while the second was supernatural, filled with the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 15:45).

This is why the second Adam was able to overcome temptations and live a purposeful life. He operated in and by a higher power, the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38). The good news is that the new man in Christ (born again believer) was gifted this same life-giving spirit. This spirit dwells in us to give us victory over death in every aspect of our lives. By this same precious Holy Spirit, we can enjoy life in our spiritual lives, health, marriages, relationships, finances, etc. Many believers have not learned how to activate and partner with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16); that is why we see poor, sick, sinning Christians. The Holy Spirit was given to us so that we'd have the upper hand in all areas of life. We were not created to go with the flow. I read a quote earlier this week that stated "Only dead fish go with the flow." That is so true! Wise fish stay  with the school, they follow the teacher!

The Holy Spirit is our teacher (John 14:26). He was given to us to teach us ALL things not some things. At times we limit the Holy Spirit to spiritual things (such as prayer), he's more than that. The Lord Jesus Christ came to give us an abundant life (John 10:10), which covers every aspect of life (true prosperity). True prosperity is when you are fulfilled spiritually, physically, emotionally, materially, and financially.

I remember a time when one of the pastors of the church I attended while I was in college told me how she consulted the Holy Spirit about how to dress daily. When she mentioned it then, it sounded weird. But I decided to try it and in no time my dressing improved, I started get compliments from many people. I decided to apply this same principle with cooking. I remember the times when my father would come and visit me while in college. After eating the meal I had prepared for him, he'd politely ask if he could order Chinese food. I was terrible in the kitchen. My mom is an awesome cook, she taught I and my siblings how to cook at a very young age but I despised the kitchen. I spent countless hours there as a young lady so I never practiced what I was taught when I got older. When I began to prepare for marriage that was one area I had to tackle. So I invited the Holy Spirit's help once again, and now my husband is smiling and his belly is bigger...lol.

God cares about every aspect and minute detail of our lives. He's not too big to help us with what we consider “the small things” in our lives; if it was really that “small” it wouldn’t be an issue. He loves us and he cares about our total well-being. No area is off bounds with him, no subject is off bounds with the Holy Spirit. He is an expert in all things. He is a life giving spirit. As a believer no area of your life is permitted to be dead. Walk with the Spirit of God, invite him into every area of your life and receive life! 

Confessions: Heavenly Father, thank you for your precious Holy Spirit. Today I declare that I will partner and walk with him to receive all that pertains to life and godliness, in Jesus' name. Amen

Prayer starter: In the name of Lord Jesus, father I ask for a renew consciousness of your life given power that lives in me by the Holy Spirit. Amen

Look in the Mirror

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”
James 1:22-25 NLT

There's a difference between knowing the Word of God in your head and truly knowing it (having a revelation of it). The key to success is: knowing the Word, letting it take residence in your heart and doing what it says (Joshua 1:8). If you know what the Word says and fail to act accordingly, you're wasting your time. The above scripture says that if you just listen to the Word without doing what it says, you're fooling yourself; other translations say you're deceiving yourself.

If further goes on to describe the essence of the foolery, comparing it to looking in the mirror and forgetting what you look like the next minute. The Word of God is filled with descriptions of our true nature. It contains the elements of our identity. The Word says we are blessed, therefore we are blessed! The Word says that we are the healed of the Lord, therefore we are healed! The Word says that we have power over sin, therefore we are righteous! However, you have a part to play. 

When you look into the Word, it is your true identity...a reflection of who you really are (2 Corinthians 3:18). As you listen to the Word, meditate on the Word and act on the Word you are change into that very image. After all, if you are born again you were born of this same Word and the Spirit of God (1 Peter 1:23; John 3:5). When you fail to do what you know is right, you're denying your true identity...you are suffering from an identity crisis.

I had this issue a few years ago. I knew what was right but I found myself constantly doing what was wrong. I felt weak and incapable of living right. The devil would mock me and constantly tell me that I wasn't worthy, I wasn't good enough. He would tell me that there was no point in trying, that I would always fail.

I was willing to make the changes but my flesh was weak (Matthew 26:41). I later discovered that true change comes by the Word of God and through the strength of his Spirit. I learned that once I built up my spirit and meditated on the Word of God routinely, I would no longer struggle with sin. I learned that change involved action and not just mere wishing.

That was my key to victory! I let the Word of God redefine me, instead of believing what the society or world said I was. I understood that I was royalty and that I had authority. And that I was in charge of my life with the help of the Holy Spirit. 

As I meditated on the Word and followed the leading of the Spirit, I was transformed (Romans 12:2). I became wiser, bolder, more confident and stronger. It worked like magic! However, once again I had a role to play. I had to make a conscious decision to be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer. At times I would do very well but, I'd fall again. After the fall, I'd dust myself off and try again. In no time, it was smooth sailing as I learned to lean on the Holy Spirit and soar on the wings of grace.

Refuse to be a fool! Refuse to suffer from identity crisis! BE A DOER OF THE WORD OF GOD!!!

Confession: In the name of the Lord Jesus, I declare that I am a doer of the Word of God! I consider the Word my reality and I act on it daily. Amen

Prayer starter: Heavenly father, I thank you for your Word. I pray for the grace to always choose to do your word and to resist the temptation to do otherwise. Amen

Our Security System

Psalm 121:5, 7-8 The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever (NLT),

The above scripture tells us that the Lord himself watches over us. He is always by our side and he has our back, front, etc. He did not assign this task to anyone else, he permanently keeping a vigil over us. What an awesome father! He loves us so much to be by our side during every single moment in our lives. Even in our mess, he remains faithful and committed to us. 

Contrary to what some people may believe, he does not watch over us in order to catch us when we "slip" or make a mistake so that he can punish us. No, he watches over us to protect us from evil. He watches over us to ensure that we embark upon and stay on the path that he has paved for us in life. Even when you miss a step or take a wrong turn, he's there. Nudging you towards the right direction, and he keeps at it until you get back on track (Psalm 37:23 NLT).

If this is the case, why do we get afraid when things seem to not work out. Why do we get afraid when things seem to go haywire? If God himself is watching over us, shouldn't we be rest assured that all is well? Is it because we can't see him physically at our side? Is it because we can not see him physically shading us from evil? Sickness? Poverty? Failure? Shame? Why is it that we tend to believe in what we can see with our physical eyes more than what we can not see? What is unseen is more real than what is seen, after all the world that we see was created from the one that we can not see. The unseen realm is the real deal (2 Corinthians 4:18; Hebrews 11:3)...PAUSE and let that sink in! 

In this part of the world (USA), many people have security systems installed in their homes. In the case of a fire, robbery, medical emergencies, etc these systems are designed to alert the appropriate authority officials. When these officials are alerted, they are trained to arrive on the scene ASAP and to provide a solution to the pending issue.

We have a father that is always on guard, he is ever present. Through his Holy Spirit that dwells within us, he is our helper on call (John 14:16 AMP). There is no issue that the Holy Spirit can not attend to, he is an all around expert (John 14:17 NLT). No subject is off bounds. So the next time, you see fear rearing it's ugly head...alert your inner security system. He is ever present and every ready to help you with every and anything (Psalm 46:1).

Confession: In the name of the Lord Jesus, I declare that I am kept by the father. I refused to be afraid, I refused to be moved because the one who watches over me never slumbers or sleeps. Amen!

Prayer starter: Heavenly father I ask that you help me to always remind that you with me, no matter the situation or circumstance. Help me Father to always be still and know that you are God, Amen.
